Social media stats for your growing pet business
I remember when Facebook official was a big deal! Were you even in a relationship if your status on Facebook didn't say so?
Ah, how simple things were where back then!?! (and, now I’m showing my age)
Nowadays, if you want your business (or relationship) to stand out on Social media, you have to do a whole lot more than post some #relationshipgoals content.
If you're a creative, this can be fun because the new and interesting ways to engage your target audience are essentially never-ending and always changing.
But, before you start creating content for your target audience, it’s important you know some key information about them first.
Think of this as the dating stage of a relationship. Getting to know each other.
The Digital 2023 Australian Report, is a great place to start ‘dating’ your target audience.
Instincts might push you to jump right into Facebook, or Instagram.
But is that where your target audience are hiding out? And if they are, are they there to find you, or are they part of the 83% of people who use Social Media to catch up with family and friends? Or one of the 62.2% of people who use the internet to find information?
The Digital 2023 Australian Report, shows that Facebook is in the top three favourite Social Media Platforms, for Females aged 45-54 and Males aged 25-44.
Is this the age bracket and gender of your target audience?
You’ll see that each gender and age bracket have different favourite social media platforms.
The below chart boast some great stats on where your ideal audience are spending most of their digital time.
But, what's even more interesting, and equally important, especially for my pet business followers (and let's face it, if you've sniffed out my blog, that's you) are the score settling statistics around who won the internet.
Dogs or Cats?
Unequivocally, dogs win! (and, que the zoomies)
Listen up if you own or run a pet business, these stats are as interesting as EVERY.BLADE.OF.GRASS.ON.A.WALK.
Google searches have cat, or should I say dog-apulted the word "Dog" with 450 million more search results than their feline friends.
But, I have a feline that our crazy cat counterparts are scratching the post over at Wikipedia because there are over 3 times more page views for cats than for dogs during 2022.
Still, that is no comparison to the 350 million #dog Instagram posts vs 270 million #cats posts.
Over on TikTok the results resemble the above, with a couple billion added…
TikTok saw 350 billion views on #dogs posts vs 270 billion #cat posts.
So, where are your customers hiding? Like a cat in stealth mode, they are hiding in plain sight, you just have to know where to look.
It’s up to you, as a business owner to research your target audience (or engage a specialist like myself) get to know them, date them and then you can work on your #engaged….ment strategy!
If you enjoyed this as much as a wet dog enjoys shaking next to you, (or as much as a trip to the vet) let me know in the comments.
